Your Cellar Door host will take you to the region’s first vines, originally planted by Gibbston Valley founder and wine pioneer Alan Brady, before entering the renowned Gibbston Wine Cave for a unique wine tasting experience of current releases.
Next, your guide will transport you to the premium Peregrine Winery, where innovation meets artistry in a stunning architectural setting. Here, you’ll enter the cellar door and climate-controlled barrel room to complete another excellent guided tasting of Peregrine’s signature wines, with a behind-the-scenes look at their barrel aging and wine making processes.

We start with a cave tour at Gibbston Valley, followed by a tasting at the premium Peregrine Barrel Room. After we will journey to Ayrburn, where we will do a tasting and enjoy a antipasti platter in their Barrel Room or another one of their spectacular venues. Option to stay at Ayrburn for dinner.
Our tour finishes at Ayrburn with an antipasti platter included. You then have the option to return to Queenstown with your guide, or stay at Ayrburn and continue into the night, you can enjoy dinner and drinks at Ayrburn, before returning to Queenstown via their transport.

Yes all of our wine guides are put through an intensive wine and beer accreditation specifically built for Altitude Tours. This includes theory on the history of wine, wine in the world, wine in NZ and wine in Central Otago. They also know when to stop delivering wine information and let you sit back, enjoy the sights and day out!
We have a central Queenstown pick up and drop off, outside The Station Building, located at the corner of Shotover and Camp street.
All levels of wine knowledge are welcome! From the beginner wine tasting to the expert wine connoisseur wanting to chat wine all day, our guides and tours will suit all.
Central Otago is famous for it’s Pinot Noir, so there will certainly be plenty of pinot to taste! Other varieties you’ll taste are Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, Rosé and Riesling.
As premium, small group tours we have no more than 16 guests per tour. However, we do require a minimum of 4 guests to run the tour.*
Yes! All wine purchased is placed in the boot of the vehicle and passed over to you on completion of the tour so you can enjoy it after or later on your holiday.
