Altitude is owned and operated by Queenstown locals with a simple mission to provide unique high quality authentic experiences. Our guides and drivers have been hand picked because of their passion for the region and of course their love of everything wine.

Heidi – Altitude Tours General Manager

Heidi
Heidi, our GM is a born and bred kiwi girl who hails from Hamilton in the North Island (we don’t hold that against her though). After finishing high school, she moved to Queenstown where she studied Tourism Management and has called this beautiful region home ever since.

Having worked in tourism for her entire career in various guiding and management roles, Heidi was looking for a new challenge at the exact same time that Altitude Tours was born. With a love for Central Otago, tourism, guiding and wine it was a natural progression for Heidi to be involved in this exciting new company. What a prefect fit!

After passing the NZ Level 2 WSET (wine and spirits) course her love and knowledge of wine continues to flourish. Heidi’s infectious smile, easy going nature and wealth of knowledge combine to ensure you have a fantastic experience with Altitude Tours.

When not indulging in a glass or three of a Central Otago pinot you’ll find Heidi hitting the ski slopes, riding her bike or enjoying the lifestyle Queenstown offers.

Isabella
Isabella is a Canadian girl who has recently moved to Queenstown after several years living and travelling throughout Australia and Southeast Asia.

Growing up in Vancouver, she has a love for the outdoors making Queenstown an ideal place to settle.

With a background in Sales and Marketing paired with her love of good wine, beer, and beautiful scenery she is the latest addition to our Sales team.

Mick – Guide, Sommelier & Wine Guru

Mick
A self confessed ’wine geek’, Mick has been a part of the local wine industry here in Central Otago since 2003.

Originally from across the Tasman, Mick’s background as a sommelier at Australia’s top restaurants was perfect grooming for his role as a wine guide. His extensive knowledge of the local region and it’s wine has earned Mick the reputation as the guide for the rich and famous, and former clients include some of the world’s hottest celebrities!

With his obvious passion for wine, Mick has established strong relationships with the local wine growers and is well respected throughout the wine community. He has hands on winemaking and viticultural experience and has worked along side the likes of legendary pioneer Alan Brady and New Zealand’s most decorated wine maker, Grant Taylor.

As well as his role as a wine guide, Mick also conducts wine training programmes for local hospitality staff and presents wine seminars for corporate groups and conference delegates. He’s the sommelier at Sir Michael Hill’s exclusive Lodge at The Hills and is contracted by several of New Zealand’s top Luxury Tourism operators.

Mick’s easy going nature and cheeky sense of humour provides a relaxed and friendly tour experience for all involved. He loves to chat and he’s great at tailoring the dialogue to benefit all comers, irrespective of wine knowledge.

Having been in various guiding roles over the past 10 years we are thrilled to have Tania and her extensive knowledge of the region as part of our Altitude Tours Team.

Erik – Passionate and fun guide

Erik

Erik oozes enthusiasm and passion for Lord of the Rings, wine, beer and the beautiful Wakatipu region he now calls home.

Originally from a farming background, after 25 years on various farms, his entrepreneurial streak shone through and he has dabbled in various business ventures before settling in Queenstown and starting the famous Erik’s fish and chips. Wife Anna now runs this and Erik keeps busy doing a few different gigs including entertaining Altitude guests on both our daily departure wine and scenic tours.

As kiwi as they come, Erik gladly shares his wealth of knowledge on Maori history, Queenstown’s history, and wine and beer in the region on every tour he conducts and if you’re lucky ask him to do a haka for you.

Come on out on an Altitude Tour and meet this legend for yourself ☺

Graeme – Charasmatic & Knowledgeable Guide

Graeme
Graeme our legendary driver and guide may be an Aussie but we’re happy to claim him as our own.

After 26 seasons ski instructing on Queenstown’s Coronet Peak ski field, GT (as he is affectionately known) now qualifies as a local. Not only is he amazing on skis, he’s also known to carve it up in the surf and is pretty handy on the tools (having recently constructed our beautiful pinot barrel wine racks in the back of the vans).

Graeme has been guiding around the Wakatipu region, Queenstown and the South Island for years in various roles. He absolutely loves the scenery, lifestyle, and more importantly, the beer and wine this region showcases.

A genuine good bugger, his combination of a fantastic sense of humour, in-depth knowledge and love for wine will ensure you have an amazing tour with Altitude.
